Executive function coaching
How Meghan builds planning, prioritizing and follow-through skills.
About
A coach and mentor who works alongside your care team, building executive function skills one strategy at a time.
Meghan Michalski, MA, is a coach and mentor from NYC with over 10 years of experience in social science research, public health and education.
She has a master’s degree from Harvard University with a focus in clinical psychology, and she has studied the effects of executive functioning strategies on emotion regulation. She also has an addiction-counseling background. Ambitura Mentoring is her coaching practice, serving clients in Asheville, NC, New York City and online.
Meghan’s focus is the intersection of theory and research on organizational and socio-emotional interventions. The aim is to nourish a person’s strengths and build long-term self-sufficiency.
Clients first use new strategies with support. Meghan then works so that each client can carry those strategies out independently. Along the way she builds confidence, skills and an understanding of why the strategies matter for performance.
The executive function skills she builds with clients include planning, prioritizing, communication, thought organization, cognitive flexibility, time management and emotion regulation.
Meghan takes a cognitive approach. She puts trust and rapport first, and she assesses how each client processes information before choosing what to teach. Concepts and organizational strategies are then adapted to the client’s own perception and understanding.
Positive outcomes come from relatability and trusting rapport, so Meghan takes a relational approach. She holds space for authenticity while using a client’s strengths and building up growth areas.
Her toolkit includes:
Sessions are one-to-one and ongoing at a regular cadence, offered virtually or in person. You can read more about how executive function coaching works with Meghan.
Ambitura blends ambition with nature. The idea is to use your internal and external resources, meaning both yourself and the world around you, to build sustainable short-term and long-term goals and then actually carry them out.
“Nature” here is a metaphor for inner nature and instinct. It does not describe outdoor coaching.
I do my best to guide a person in the human experience towards their goals.
Alongside, not instead of, clinical care
Meghan is a coach and mentor. She is not a licensed clinician and not a psychiatric or medical professional, and coaching is not a substitute for clinical care. She works alongside her clients’ psychiatrists, psychologists and families as one coordinated part of a whole care team. She also collaborates with existing care teams. Clinicians can read how Meghan works with your care team.
Away from her work, Meghan is a writer, a rock climber and a sci-fi and fantasy reader. If you would like to ask about working together, you can get in touch on the contact page.
